This week’s Connect Series feature is a little different. Beth Miller, co-founder and COO of Universal Bookkeeper, and I have been crossing paths since we were kids, and then again in high school, without even knowing it.
We both spent time in Old Forge growing up. I moved to Whitesboro for high school, she was a year behind me there. I brought my yearbook to the interview so we could look back together.
And it did not stop there. She lives next door to my cousin. Our kids started kindergarten together at the same school this year. We just found out we both ski, at the same mountain growing up no less. So Beth, consider this your official invite: we are hitting the slopes together this winter.
Ten years ago, Beth and her husband Justin started Universal Bookkeeper together. They took MVCC’s thINCubator class together, taught by Beth’s brother-in-law Ryan Miller, who’s an amazing resource if you ever need help with a business, before building the business from the ground up. Today they help small businesses and nonprofits across our community with accounting and outsourced CFO support, so owners can stop stressing over the numbers and focus on what they do best.
Beyond the numbers, Beth is one of the most genuine, kind hearted people I have met, and anyone who knows her will tell you she is as organized as they come, which feels like exactly the person you want handling your books.
This is exactly why I love doing this series. Slowing down to really learn about the people in my community, who they are and what they are building. Turns out sometimes they have been right beside you all along.
