I’m an Emmy-winning photographer and videographer with more than 20 years of experience creating stories that inspire, inform, and connect. My career began as a photojournalist in rural Vermont, where I learned the importance of community and authenticity in storytelling. From there, I joined Newsday as a multimedia producer and later served as Lead News and Brand Producer for LittleThings.com in New York City.
Throughout my career, I’ve brought powerful stories to the forefront—from documenting New York State’s first same-sex marriage and the devastation of Superstorm Sandy to covering Occupy Wall Street and following one family’s two-year struggle to access healthcare for their daughter. My work has aired in Times Square, streamed live to the United Nations, and been featured on national broadcasts and digital campaigns reaching millions.
Most recently, I served as Senior Technical Photographer Group Leader at Brookhaven National Laboratory, leading a team responsible for all photography and video across the facility. There, I specialized in translating complex scientific research into engaging, accessible visuals for the Department of Energy, stakeholders, and the public—reinforcing my belief in the power of visual storytelling to educate, inspire, and connect.
In addition to my work behind the camera, I’ve taught multimedia journalism and digital design at Stony Brook University, Syracuse University, Mohawk Valley Community College, and the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. Teaching has given me the joy of helping students and young storytellers find their creative voices—especially my time with The Pablove Foundation, guiding children and teens living with cancer to express themselves through photography.
I hold a Master of Science in Photography, Photojournalism, and Multimedia Storytelling from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Saint Michael’s College, where I concentrated in photography, multimedia, and web design.
I grew up in Old Forge, nestled in the Adirondack Mountains, and after many years living and working in the New York City area, I recently returned to Central New York—a homecoming that reminded me why storytelling, community, and connection matter most. Outside of work, I’m an avid runner who competes in the world-renowned Boilermaker 15K (and yes, I take photos along the way—you can’t take the photojournalist out of me!) and am part of the Tough Mudder Legion. I also run a Little Free Library in my neighborhood—a small but meaningful way to share stories, spark curiosity, and build community through books. Whether I’m working in the garden, skiing in the winter, exploring new places, or documenting everyday life, my camera is never far from reach—and storytelling is simply in my blood.
Through JMR Visuals, I bring the same passion, empathy, and creativity to every project—whether capturing portraits, producing video, or crafting large-scale visual campaigns. My mission is simple: to deliver authentic, impactful stories that spark emotion and stand the test of time.

Sometimes I step in front of the camera—here are a few videos featuring me.
